Abstract

LPG consists of butane and propane, which is the charge of gas in liquid form. The process of loading and discharging cargo in the ship MT LPG. Gas Komodo conducted by Ship To Ship Operation. Based on this research, the process of loading and discharging cargo in the ship MT. Gas Komodo found several problems, one of which is an unstable temperature when loading and discharging of LPG. Therefore, to increase understanding and knowledge about handling the loading and discharging of ships gas, the author will analyze the following issues: (1) How LPG loading and discharging cargo with ship to ship transfer? (2) How is the preparation before discharging cargo ship LPG by ship to ship cargo transfer so that the temperature remains stable? Present different kind of references that support the implementation of the loading and discharging of LPG by ship to ship transfer as well as the preparation of the ship before carrying cargo loading and discharging so that the temperature is stable. The method used by the author in delivering the problem is qualitative method to illustrate and describe the object under study. Based on how to obtain it, will present the data obtained in a descriptive or create a picture of the situation or event based on the data that is accurate and has a close relationship between the researcher and the researched. The authors conclude that treatment with the loading and discharging of ship to ship transfer can be one of the causes of the instability of the charge temperature during the process of loading and discharging. Due to the STS, the ship used as a terminal or a mother ship that cargo handling done by the ship. To cool the charge used reliquifaction plant and used to heat load cargo heater. Both use seawater as a heating or cooling medium. When the ambient temperature of the sea water is not always the same, it will affect the temperature of the charge is processed. Other circumstances show that the supply of sea water through the two tools is also a major effect on the success of keeping the temperature of the charge when loading or discharging.
