Abstract

Teguh Budianto, 2018, NIT: 50134796.N, “The Management of Crude Palm Oil Loading and Discharging Process on MT. AMASNUSA in 2016”, final project of Nautical Department, Diploma IV Program, Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Semarang, First Advisor: Ir. Boedojo Wiwoho, S.J., M.T., Second Advisor: Irma Shinta Dewi, S.S., M.Pd. In the worldwide nowadays, sea transportation seems interesting for exporters and importers because it is considered having good economy values to support export and import. The loading and discharging process should be safe and punctual so the sea transportation activities can run well. This is supported by the performance of transportation and skillful crew based on a management. The study done by researcher in 2016 at MT.AMASNUSA aims to know the application of Crude Palm Oil loading and discharging management, the problems disturbing the loading and discharging process and the efforts to overcome the problems. Considering the importance of loading and discharging management to avoid the problems disturbing the process, the researcher in this study used qualitative descriptive method. The techniques of data gathering were interview with captain and first officer, observation by involving in loading and discharging process, study on scientific literature or books related to loading and discharging management, and documentation by taking pictures during the process. The results show that the management of Crude Palm Oil loading and discharging process was improper according to the procedures so it brought some problems, those were frozen remains in the tank, Cargo pipes disturbing the process of oading and discharging also the effort to overcome those problems. The conclusion drawn were that the management must be done according to procedures to avoid the problems disturbing the process including planning before loading or discharging, job assignment of each crew, accurate leadership to manage the inferiors in loading and discharging, also control on loading and discharging process including accurate procedures, checking before or after loading and discharging, cargo maintenance, tank cleaning based on procedures, to avoid any problems so loading and discharging process can run safely and well.
