Abstract

Dany Agung Setiyanto, 2016, NIT: 49124318. N, “Analysis of loading and discharging activities of cruise folk in Tanjung Emas Semarang”, Nautical Thesis, Diploma IV Program, Merchant Marine Polythecnic Semarang. Material Adviser (I): Dr. Capt. Suwiyadi, M.Pd., M.Mar. Methodologi and Writing Adviser (II): Drs. Edy Warsopurnomo, MM., M.Mar.E. Tanjung Emas Port Semarang is a great port, in addition to serving the public transport of passengers and goods, also serves loading and unloading for Cruise Folk (PELRA). The volume of freight by Cruise Folk through the port of Tanjung Emas still exist from year to year. Various commodity cargo loaded and unloaded by the Cruise Folk. Then loaded commodities distributed to certain ports in Indonesia. But the cargo operation on Cruise Folk not as advanced as modern cruise ship or vessels. One reason is that there is no pattern of good loading and unloading operations and the lack of application of the principle loading and unloading on Cruise Folk. The purpose of the research is to find out what the commodity charge, the amount of commodities were loaded and unloaded cargo ship PELRA, the destination port PELRA ship from the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang and cargo handling of cargo transported commodities.. The method used is the method of qualitative and quantitative research with sequential processes. The collection of data through desk research, interviews and documentation. In this case the researchers conducted observations directly to the port and to the Company PELRA, researchers conducted interviews with the ship's captain PELRA directly related to the loading and unloading process as well as the company's managers PELRA. Researchers also shooting in order to support the validity of the data in this study. The research results can be known commodities are frequently loaded is rice with a total haulage 50879.11 tons over the next 20 months (January 2015-August 2016) with a percentage of 40% of the transport of cargo. Then the cargo which frequently discharge is an oilcake with 20028.76 tons and has a percentage of 57% of the total demolition. Frequented destination port is the port of Ketapang in West Kalimantan with a percentage of 41% and total visits as many as 167 times in the last 20 months. Furthermore, the handling of cargo that does not comply with the principle of loading due to lack of knowledge, skills, lack of safety equipment and support, as well as errors in the handling of cargo. Based on the results of the study should be a company providing safety and support equipment for ships PELRA. Then the government provides training and skills for sailors PELRA regarding the handling of cargo so that seafarers working on ships PELRA can carry out loading and unloading activities properly and to improve the certification of sailors PELRA that can be qualified human resources.
