Abstract

Gentar Riyadhi, 2018, NIT: 50134907.T, “Circulation Pump Damage Analysis of Fuel Main Diesel Engine On Fuel Circulation At MT.KUANG”, Program Diploma IV, Technical, Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Semarang, Supervising I: Abdi Seno, M.Si, M.Mar.E and Supervising II: Capt. Hadi Supriyono, M.Mar , M.M. Circulation pump is a machinery that is contained in a fuel system that functions to circulate the fuel, called circulation pump because the remaining fuel from the injector that is not sprayed into the combustion chamber will flow back to the pump and will be pumped again into the fuel system. The availability of fuel is an absolute necessity for the smooth operation of the main diesel engine that requires fuel to be used as combustion power in the main diesel engine. the pressure used in the fuel circulation process is very influential on the performance of the main diesel engine driving. Circulation pump damage can affect the operation of the main diesel engine, so the pump pressure must always be maintained. Research method that writer use in preparation of this thesis is descriptive qualitaf research method. In this case the writer use the SWOT method as a data analysis technique to analyze what factors cause the decrease of boiler water quality and what efforts are done to overcome these factors by identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats from the environment systematically to formulate the strategy to be taken. Based on the results of research that has been done by the writer, it can be concluded that the damage to the circulation pump is caused by two factors, namely 1) Wear on the bearings / bushing shaft of the pump causing vibration or vibration excess at the pump causing decrease of pump work pressure. 2) Damage mechanical seal makes the discharge of fuel from the sidelines of the pump shaft. To overcome these factors can be replaced bushing / bearing, mechanical seal replacement at the pump, and periodic grease lubricant. Keywords: pump, fuel oil, SWOT.
