Abstract
Vidi Ismanto, 2017, NIT: 50135103.K, "Analyze the Delay to Discharge of Chemical Caustic Soda from MT.Sinar Johor Ship to Land Tank of PT Sulfindo Adi Usaha in Merak Port", thesis the study program of Port And Shipping Department, Diploma IV Program, Semarang Merchant Marine Polytechnic, Lecturer as Mentor I: Laksmi Setyorini, S.Pd., M.Si, Lecturer as Mentor II: Sarifuddin, M.Pd. , M.Mar.E In the jetty PT. Sulfindo Adi Usaha there is an activity of work activities is the discharge of chemical caustic soda done by the agent from PT. Samudera Indonesia branch Cilegon, Banten as agency company. The purpose of this research is to optimize the handling in the work activities to discharge of chemical caustic soda in the jetty PT. Sulfindo Adi Usaha. The method used by researchers in this research is qualitative. This research is written in a descriptive manner which contains descriptions from interviewees and documentation. Data collection techniques used are primary data collection and secondary data collection. The process of collecting data through the approach to the object under study using observation, interview, and literature study.The researchers also use direct and indirect observation. There are several obstacles faced by PT. Samudera Indonesia as the agency and PT. Sulfindo Adi Usaha as the owner of the jetty as well as the owner of the goods while carrying out the work activities of disassembling chemical caustic soda takes place which results in delays. First is the natural factor or the bad weather that occurs strong winds and sea wave. In addition, inadequate performance of human resources during installation of equipment, coordination that is inconsistent with previous meeting, lack of knowledge of the chemical nature of cargo and document processing errors. Inadequate loading and unloading equipment during installation and checking resulting in leakage, inappropriate hose irregularities, less than optimal cleaning, an absence of tool modernization and congestion or equipment damage while in operation. Such bridges result in stopping activities, demurrage on costs and operations, late distribution of products and delay of vessels to sail. Efforts are made to support the work of unloading chemical caustic soda is to perform strategic steps from technical and non-technical point of view that is taking into account the right time and in accordance with the weather conditions that occur at the time will carry out the loading and unloading activities by always updating the info from BMKG, Conduct training and quality improvement on human resources by means of training, meeting and study appeals, set to perform maintenance and modernization of loading and unloading equipment to be safe to use.
