Abstract

ABSTRAK Steering gear merupakan salah satu permesinan bantu dan peralatan penting yang ada di atas kapal. Steering gear berfungsi untuk membantu kapal berbelok ke arah kiri (port side) dan ke arah kanan (starboard side) dengan menggerakkan rudder (daun kemudi). Dalam pengoperasiannya, steering gear di MT. Maiden Standard mengalami penurunan tekanan hidrolik dan hal itu mengakibatkan kerja dari steering gear tidak bekerja tidak optimal. Tidak optimalnya steering gear mengakibatkan pergerakan daun kemudi menjadi melambat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab tidak optimalnya kerja steering gear, dampak yang ditimbulkan jika steering gear tidak bekerja dengan optimal, serta untuk memberikan informasi kepada pembaca tentang upaya dalam mengatasi masalah steering gear yang bekerja tidak optimal di MT.Maiden Standard. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua metode penelitian yaitu Hazop dan USG (Urgency, Seriusness dan Growth). Metode Hazop untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan tidak optimalnya kerja dari steering gear dan metode USG (Urgency, Seriusness, and Growth) untuk mengetahui prioritas masalah tersebut, dampak apa yang ditimbulkan dan upaya apa yang harus dilakukan untuk mengatasi tidak optimalnya kerja steering gear tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan tidak optimalnya kerja dari steering gear yaitu turunnya tekanan hidrolik, kerusakan pada komponen-komponen sistem hidrolik yang meliputi pipa, minyak lumas, filter, pompa. Hasil penelitian mengacu pada kerusakan salah satu komponen tersebut yaitu filter, hal ini mengakibatkan turunnya tekanan hidrolik pada steering gear. Dampak yang ditimbulkan dari tidak optimalnya kerja dari steering gear adalah olah gerak menjadi terhambat, pegerakan daun kemudi menjadi melambat sehingga mengakibatkan terjadinya tubrukan di MT. Maiden Standard. Upaya yang dilakukan agar kerja steering gear dapat bekerja dengan optimal adalah adalah melakukan perbaikan untuk mengatasi turunnya kinerja pompa hidrolik, melakukan perbaikan untuk mengatasi kebocoran sambungan pipa, melakukan perbaikan untuk mengatasi kerusakan katup, melakukan perawatan untuk mengatasi turunnya kualitas minyak lumas, dan membersihkan filter secara berkala. Oleh karena itu perawatan dan perbaikan yang teratur dan sistematis pada komponen-komponen tersebut terutama filter sangat mutlak diperlukan agar steering gear bekerja dengan tekanan yang optimal. Semua itu akan penulis bahas pada skripsi ini. ABSTRACT Steering gear is one of the machining aids and important equipment that is on the ship. Steering gear serves to help the ship turn left (port side) and right (starboard side) by moving the rudder (steering wheel). In its operation, the steering gear at MT. Maiden Standard experienced a decrease in hydraulic pressure and this resulted in the work of the steering gear not working optimally. Not optimal steering gear causes the movement of the steering wheel to slow down. This study aims to determine the factors causing the work of the steering gear is not optimal, the impact caused if the steering gear does not work optimally, and to provide information to readers about efforts to overcome the problem of steering gear that is not working optimally at MT.Maiden Standard. This research uses two research methods namely Hazop and USG (Urgency, Seriousness and Growth). Hazop method to find out the factors that cause the work of the steering gear is not optimal and the USG (Urgency, Seriousness, and Growth) method to find out the priority of the problem, what impact is caused and what efforts must be made to overcome the non-optimal work of the steering gear . The results showed the factors that caused the non-optimal working of the steering gear were hydraulic pressure drop, damage to the components of the hydraulic system which included pipes, lubricating oil, filters, pumps. The results of the study refer to damage to one of the components, namely the filter, this results in a decrease in hydraulic pressure on the steering gear. The impact arising from the non-optimal work of the steering gear is if the motion becomes obstructed, the movement of the steering wheel slows down resulting in a collision at MT. Maiden Standard. Efforts made so that the work of the steering gear can work optimally are to make improvements to overcome the decline in performance of the hydraulic pump, make repairs to overcome leakage pipe connections, make repairs to overcome damage to the valve, take care to overcome the decline in the quality of lubricating oil, and clean the filter thoroughly. periodically. Therefore, regular and systematic maintenance and repair of these components, especially filters, is absolutely necessary for the steering gear to work with optimal pressure. All that will be discussed by the writer in this thesis.
