Abstract

ABSTRAKSI Bela Dwi Hatmoko, NIT. 52155591.N, 2019 “Upaya Penggunaan System BWMS Dalam Pengoperasian Ballast Guna Mencegah Pencemaran Air Laut Di MV Glovis Diamond”, Program Diploma IV, Nautika, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, Pembimbing I: Capt. Ali Imran Ritonga, M.M., M.Mar. dan Pembimbing II: Capt. Tri Kismantoro, M.M., M.Mar. Air ballast dari kapal adalah air yang bersifat berbahaya karna mungkin mengandung beberapa harmful aquatic organism yang dibawa oleh kapal dari satu pelabuhan ke pelabuhan lain yang dapat merusak ekosistem air laut di sekitar pelabuhan tersebut, maka dari itu untuk mencegah hal tersebut IMO memberlakukan aturan Standard D-2 yaitu ballast treatment. Di kapal MV Glovis Diamond sendiri sudah menerapkan aturan tersebut dengan menggunakan sistem BWMS AquaStar. Sistem BWMS AquaStar adalah sebuah system electrolytic dan disinfektan air ballast yang berfungsi untuk mencegah pencemaran air laut oleh ballast dari kapal. Tujuan utama dari penlitian ini adalah mencegah pencemaran air laut oleh air ballast yang mengandung harmful aquatic organisms dengan menggunakan metode ballast treatment BWMS AquaStar. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Deskriptif Kualitatif dengan teknik analisa reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan sebagai metode untuk menentukan penyebab dan upaya untuk menanggulanginya. Adapun rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah bahaya yang ditimbulkan dari air ballast kapal apabila tidak ditangani degan tepat dan cara untuk menggunakan sistem BWMS AquaStar untuk mencegah pencemaran air ballast dari kapal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dampak yang ditimbulkan akibat air ballast yang dikeluarkan dari kapal tanpa ada penanganan yang tepat akan menimbulkan kerusakan ekosistem pada air laut sekitar. Cara untuk mencegah pencemaran air ballast tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan sistem BWMS AquaStar yaitu ballast treatment pada saat ballasting dengan cara menyaring air ballast agar menjadi bersih dari harmful aquatic organisms dan pada saat deballasting sistem BMWS AquaStar akan mengubah konsentrasi air ballast dari kapal menjadi sama dengan konsentrasi air laut alami ABSTRACT Bela Dwi Hatmoko, NIT. 52155591.N, 2019 “Efforts to Use the BWMS System in Ballast Operation to Prevent Seawater Pollution in MV Glovis Diamond”, Diploma IV program, Teknika, Merchant Marine Polythecnic of Semarang, Supervisor I: Capt. Ballast water from ships is water that is dangerous because it may contain some harmful aquatic organisms carried by ships from one port to another that can damage the sea water ecosystem around the port, therefore to prevent this, IMO applies Standard D- rules 2 namely ballast treatment. On the MV Glovis Diamond ship itself has implemented these rules by using the BWMS AquaStar system. The BWMS AquaStar system is an electrolytic and disinfecting water ballast system that functions to prevent sea water pollution by ballasts from ships. The main objective of this research is to prevent sea water pollution by water ballasts that contain harmful aquatic organisms by using the BWMS AquaStar ballast treatment method. While the method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with data reduction analysis techniques, data presentation and conclusion drawing as a method to determine the causes and efforts to overcome them. The problem formulation of this research is the dangers arising from ship ballast water if not handled appropriately and the way to use the AquaStar BWMS system to prevent ballast water pollution from ships. The results showed that the impact caused by ballast water released from the ship without proper handling will cause damage to the ecosystem in the surrounding sea water. The way to prevent the ballast water pollution is to use the BWMS AquaStar system, which is ballast treatment during ballasting by filtering ballast water to be clean from harmful aquatic organisms and when deballasting the BMWS AquaStar system will change the ballast water concentration of the ship to be the same as the water concentration natural sea.
