Abstract

Toyib Ardani, NIT. 50135010 T, 2018, “ Analasis Terjadinya Korosi Pada Intercooler Diesel Generator di Kapal MV. Oriental Mutiara”, Progam Diploma IV, Technical, Merchant Marine Semarang, Pembimbing I: Dr. A. Agus Tjahjono, M.M, M.Mar.E., dan Pembimbing II: Dodik Widarbowo, MT. To operate the vessel in accordance with the procedures and safety of the crew and cargo, it is necessary to provide training and education in the operation of the vessel. Diesel Generator on board is a very important role to support the smooth operation of the vessel. One of the main supporters in Diesel Generator operation is Intercooler, which serves to cool the air used in the internal combustion process, because in case of incompatibility in Intercooler can reduce the performance of Diesel Generator (Lilly, 1984: 2/35). The purpose of this research is to know the cause of corrosion at Intercooler Diesel Generator in Ship MV. Oriental Mutiara In the theoretical foundation contains several things such as understanding Intercooler and corrosion. In accordance with scientific principles in writing this thesis using qualitative methods with SWOT analysis, where the method of data collection is by interview, observation, questionnaire, and literature study. The conclusion of the research result during the writer of aboard practice, the writer find the cause of corrosion at Intercooler Diesel Generator that is because of zinc anode that has been exhausted, high sea salt degree, blockage of cooling pipe by garbage and mud causing high temperature. Impact of corrosion on Intercooler Diesel Generator is broken bolt on Intercooler, rising air temperature and Diesel Generator Became a slow down and strategies to overcome corrosion at Intercooler Diesel Generator is to change the zinc anode every 5000 hours, routine cleaning garbage or sludge on the cooling pipes and agreement cooperate with third parties as spare parts distributor and spare parts financing.
