Abstract

Prastya, 2018, NIT: 50135036. T. “Analysis of damage on the engine diesel generator connecting rod in MT. Sindang”, research of Engineering Study Program, Diploma IV Program, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, Supervisor I: Dwi Prasetyo, M.M., M..Mar.E., Supervisor II: Nur Rohmah, S.E., M.M. One of the most important engines or equipment on board is a engine diesel generator. If there is damage to the components on the engine diesel generator will greatly disrupt the performance of engine diesel generator because the engine serves as a source of electricity on board. Engine diesel generator failure in MT. Sindang caused by damage to the connecting rod causing blackout due to dead engine and disrupt operational activities of the ship. The purpose of this study is to determine what factors are causing the occurrence of damage to connecting rod engine diesel generator in MT. Sindang, to know the impact of what happened from the damage of connecting rod on engine diesel generator in MT. Sindang, and what efforts should be made to prevent damage to connecting rod on engine diesel generators in MT. Sindang. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by using data analysis technique of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) which is systematic identification of various factors to formulate data collection technique technique using questionnaire, interview, observation, documentation and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the factors that cause damage to connecting rod on engine diesel generator in MT. Sindang is the occurrence of overspeed, and fatigue material at the connecting rod. Impacts that occur due to damage to connecting rod on engine diesel generator in MT. Sindang is the emergence of vibration and harsh voice on engine diesel generator, decreased engine diesel generator power, and damage to other components. And how to anticipate the damage of connecting rod on engine diesel generator in MT. Sindang is optimize safety device, and the availability of spare parts on board.
