Abstract
Hendi Bagasworo, 2017, NIT : 50135059.K, “Role Analysis of DPA (Designated Person Ashore) on PT. Indo Shipping Operator for Completing Vetting Inspection Results with Charterer”, KALK Study Program, Diploma IV Program, Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Semarang, Advisor I: Okvita Wahyuni, S.ST, MM, Advisor II: Dr. Capt. Sahabuddin Sunusi, MT, M.Mar. DPA (Designated Person Ashore) is an expert who knows the ship safety management system in the shipping world and is appointed by the director and/or owner of a shipping company as a liaison between a company leader with a ship or crew to ensure the vessel operates properly and smoothly in order to achieve business activities. Vetting Inspection is a direct inspection activity of ships according to standards and criteria established and conducted by surveyors with the purpose to checking and ensuring that tankers and all components within it including crew are eligible to safely carry out cruise activities for crews, cargo and the environment. The existence of problems arising from the results of the vetting inspection report can hamper the shipping and business activities of the ship-owner, because it is necessary to have a quick handling of the mismatch on the ship after the inspection is carried out so that the ship can be re-operated, that is by making repairs, There are on board, and instruct the crew to work better and maximally, and this is where a DPA is very responsible and responsible for solving it. In this study the authors use qualitative methods that produce descriptive data in the form of written words from people and observed behavior by collecting data in the form of approaches to the object through observation, interview directly to the subject and using documents and data relating to the task and role DPA in completing the results of vetting inspection. In this method it describes and analyzes the role of DPA, the constraints and efforts made to close the nonconformities in the vetting inspection results. In this final project discusses the constraints and efforts of a DPA to close the result of vetting inspetion. In carrying out these steps it is expected that the problem will be resolved quickly and accurately, so that the ship can operate again and not suffered losses due to cessation of ship operations. The role of DPA is crucial to solve the results of vetting inspection in the form of nonconformity reports. However, DPA's duties are hampered by the many positions he has captured, lack of coordination with top management, and the lack of inspection results. Keywords: Designated Person Ashore, Vetting Inspection, Shipowner.
