Abstract

ABSTRACT Gangga Putra Mahardika, 2017, NIT: 49124659.T. “Identifying the causes of damaged heavy liquid chamber on LO Purifier mitsubishi SJ25T in MV. Jingu using FTA method”, thesis Technic Studies Program, Program Diploma IV, Semarang Merchant Marine Polytechnic, Supervisor I : A. Agus Tjahjono, MM., M.Mar.E, Supervisor II : Capt. H. S. Sumardi, SH, MM., M.Mar. Lube oil is the most needed substance in ship machinery operation, either for Main Engine or Auxiliary Engine. So, most of the ship is equipped with machinery that can help maintain the quality of lube oil that called Lube Oil Purifier. In this writing, writer have some problem to be solved for the purpose of study: What is the cause of broken heavy liquid chamber on Lube Oil Purifier when in operation, how to prevent the trouble in Lube Oil Purifier based on FTA method analysis, and how to deal with abnormality on Purifier to prevent breaking of Lube Oil Purifier. To find the factor that can cause broken heavy liquid chamber on Lube Oil Purifier and how to prevent trouble and damage, so in this writing writer using Fault Tree Analysis method (FTA). FTA is used to analyze fault event in a system. FTA method can be defined as analysis to find the cause of trouble from top event to the root of cause using fault tree diagram to find the smallest factor either human error or machinery fault that can cause the failure. From the result of this study using FTA method, writer collecting the factor that can cause the broken of heavy liquid chamber and trouble that happen on Lube Oil Purifier. So, maintenance and repairing on each part need to be conducted, this can be done by following planned maintenance system that mentioned on each ship that written by company rules, instruction book and from makers. However, taking attention of running Lube Oil Purifier need to be conducted to observe operation condition. On the conclusion and advice mentioned about the importance of conducting maintenance and routine check of all the part that risky of causing trouble and damaging Lube Oil Purifier. If theres any trouble on Lube Oil Purifier operation, operation need to be stopped immediately and checked. Keywords: Lube Oil Purifier, heavy liquid chamber, machinery damage
