Abstract

Muhammad Firdaus, 50134818 N, efforts to improve the smoothness of the procedure of loading and unloading premium on the ship MT PRINCESS NAOMI, thesis, POLITEKNIK ILMU PELAYARAN SEMARANG ( 1) Capt Agus Subardi, M.Mar. (2) Andi Wahyu Hermanto, MT The crew skill is an important thing on board in carrying out loading and unloading activities, with proper loading and unloading procedures will improve the skills in good loading and unloading.according to the fact that during real loading and unloading activities, the crew is less aware of the correct procedures because there is no training on loading and unloading procedures before boarding the vessel, so efforts are needed to improve the application of loading and unloading procedures on board in loading and unloading activities.the theoretical basis in writing this thesis is based on books related to the title that the author madein this thesis, the research method used is a qualitative method that describes and draws the object which has been investigated and interview method that is used to conduct interviews directly to the crew about the procedure of loading and unloading properly and safely . Based on the results of the authors' research, the results of the findings including the lack of understanding of the crew on the importance of appropriate loading and unloading procedures, the operation of non-compliant equipment which resulted in damage to loading and unloading equipment on board, as well as the lack of supervision of officers guarding the unloading load process, there are crews that misread sounding punctuation and not stand by at the time of topping up process. To overcome other constraints is to always prioritize the application of appropriate loading and unloading procedures, problem solving in an effort to improve the implementation of loading and unloading procedures, among others, to conduct safety meetings and trainings before loading and unloading process, increasing knowledge and understanding of loading principlesin accordance with the analysis carried by the author, it can be concluded that the understanding of the crew members in the loading and unloading procedures is still lacking, the lack of the role of the duty officer for the supervision of the crew during the loading and unloading process takes place on board and the training of the ship and the company is very lacking. as for the suggestion that there is a safety meeting before loading and unloading process, optimizing loading and unloading procedures and carry out training on the application of correct loading and unloading procedures.
