Abstract

ABSTRACT Bagas Prabowo, 2018, 50134742 N, "The handling of loading and unloading LNG (gas methane CH4) according to Cargo Operation Manual and ISGOTT at LNG / C Tangguh Palung", essay of Nautical study program, Diploma IV, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang. 1st supervisor: Capt. Samsul Huda, M.M., M.Mar. 2nd supervisor: Purwantono, S.Psi., M.Pd. The growing use of liquefied natural gas (LNG), making the operation of LNG Carrier increasingly needed. The researcher raised the problem of how the handling of loading and unloading of methane gas CH4 according to manual cargo and ISGOTT in LNG / C Tangguh Palung which is less in accordance with the contents of the Cargo Operation Manual and ISGOTT, so that in handling there are constraints that occur. The research method used by the researcher is descriptive qualitative to describe and describe the object under study. Based on how to obtain it, the data obtained during the study as supporting the compilation of writing this essay is to use primary and secondary data in the form of interviews, observation, and bibliography. From the research, researcher explains the details of the loading and unloading process of LNG contained in the Cargo Operation Manual on board. Researcher also briefly explains the contents of ISGOTT concerning safety in the loading and unloading process. And in the usual fact done on the ship there are some things that are not in accordance with the correct procedures so it can inhibit the process of loading and unloading LNG and also can make any dangerous. Researcher took the conclusion that the handling of loading and unloading that occurred on the ship has not been maximal because there are still many deviations both ship crew error and ship's infrastructure. It is therefore advisable to Ship officers to improve understanding of the handling procedures for loading and unloading of CH4 methane gas according to the contents of the Cargo Operation Manual and improving supervision by Chief Officer to Officers who are on duty during the loading and unloading process.
