Abstract

ABSTRAK Nyata Ken Adityatama Nugraha, 2019, NIT: 51145481 T, “Identifikasi Ketidakstabilan Suhu Steam Heater pada Chamber I Double Effect Submerged Tube Type Fresh Water Generator di SS. Tangguh Towuti”, Skripsi Teknika, Program Diploma Program IV, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, Pembimbing I: Amad Narto, M.Mar.E, M.Pd. Pembimbing II: Henny Wahyu W., M.Pd Fresh water generator adalah pesawat pembuat air tawar dengan cara menguapkan air laut di dalam penguap (evaporator) dan uap air laut tersebut didinginkan dengan cara kondensasi di dalam pesawat destilasi/kondenser (pengembun), sehingga menghasilkan air kondensasi yang disebut kondensat. Ketidakstabilan suhu steam heater pada chamber I double effect submerged tube type fresh water generator di SS. Tangguh Towuti mengakibatkan tidak lancarnya pengoperasian fresh water generator. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan ketidakstabilan suhu steam heater, dampak apa saja yang disebabkan oleh tidak stabilnya suhu steam heater dan upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi penyebab tidak stabilnya suhu steam heater di SS. Tangguh Towuti.. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data Software, Hardware, Environment dan Liveware (SHEL) dan Urgency, Seriousness dan Growth (USG). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, dokumentasi, observasi dengan mengamati pada saat perawatan dan perbaikan di SS. Tangguh Towuti. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketidakstabilan suhu steam heater diakibatkan tertutupnya steam heater tube oleh kerak/scale yang sudah cukup tebal yang berdampak pada terganggunya proses perpindahan panas pada chamber I, penurunan jumlah produksi air tawar dan kerusakan pada komponen brine pump. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi penyebab tidak stabilnya temperatur steam heater adalah dengan menggunakan scale inhibitor sebagai penghambat pembentukan kerak/scale, pembersihan kerak/scale, pengaturan temperature controller sesuai manual book, pengaturan jumlah feed water, peningkatan kevakuman dan penurunan heating temperature. Methodology and Writing Adviser (II): Henny Wahyu W., M.Pd Fresh water generator is a device used to generate fresh water by evaporating sea water in the evaporator and vapor will condensed by condensation process in the condenser, generated water called condensate. Instability of steam heater’s temperature at the first chamber of double effect submerged tube type fresh water generator on SS. Tangguh Towuti results in the obstructed operation of fresh water generator. The purpose of this research was to find out what are the factors that caused instability of steam heater’s temperature, impacts that caused by instability of steam heater’s temperature and what are the ways to overcome instability of steam heater’s temperature on SS. Tangguh Towuti. This research uses qualitative descriptive method by data analysis technique Software, Hardware, Environment and Liveware (SHEL) and Urgency, Seriousness and Growth (USG). Data collection is done by interview, documentation, observation by observing while maintenance and repair performed on SS. Tangguh Towuti. The result of this research shows that instability of steam heater’s temperature caused by thick scale which is blocked the surface of steam heater tube lead to bad heat exchanging process at the first chamber, reduction of fresh water generated and damage of brine pump’s component. The ways to overcome instability of steam heater’s temperature are by using scale inhibitor to inhibit the scale forming, cleaning the scale, adjustment of temperature controller referring to manual book, adjustment of feed water flowrate, increasement of vacuum and decreasement of heating temperature.
