Abstract

ABSTRAKSI Achmad Sholikin , NIT.51145302.T, 2019 “Analisis Menurunnya Kerja Air Cooler Terhadap Performa Mesin Induk di KM.Oriental Silver”, Program Diploma IV, Teknika, Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Semarang, Pembimbing I: H. Suwondo, M.M., M,Mar.E dan Pembimbing II: Sri Purwantini, S.E., S.Pd, M.M Air cooler adalah salah satu permesinan bantu yang terdapat pada mesin induk yang digunakan untuk menurunkan suhu atau temperatur udara yang masuk ke dalam ruang bakar. Air cooler sangat berpengaruh terhadap kualitas udara bilas pada mesin induk, maka dengan itu air cooler perlu adanya perawatan secara baik. Air cooler mempunyai 2 komponen utama yaitu fins atau kisi-kisi udara dan tubeside atau sisi pipa. Perawatan pada bagian fins dan tube sangat diperlukan untuk menjaga agar pendinginan udara berjalan dengan baik sehingga udara yang dihasilkan adalah udara yang mempunyai temperatur rendah dan bertekanan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor dan dampak penyebab menurunnya air cooler terhadap mesin induk dan upaya yang harus di lakukan untuk mencegah menurunnya kerja air cooler. Metode yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode Deskriptif Kualitatif dengan teknik analisa SHEL dan USG sebagai metode untuk menentukan penyebab dan upaya untuk menanggulanginya. Adapun rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah faktor-faktor apa yang mempengaruhi kerja air cooler, dampak dari menurunnya kerja air cooler dan upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi menurunnya kerja air cooler. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa penyebab dari menurunnya kerja air cooler adalah kotornya kisi-kisi udara pada air cooler, banyaknya kotoran yang mengendap pada pipa-pipa kondensor dan kurangnya supply air laut untuk proses pendinginan. Dari faktor penyebab tersebut mengakibatkan proses pendinginan berjalan tidak maksimal dan berdampak pada tenaga mesin induk yang dihasilkan. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kerja dari air cooler adalah melakukan perawatan berkala yang sesuai prosedur terhadap bagian bagian air cooler diantaranya adalah fins pada sisi udara, tube pada bagian air cooler dan filter sea chest pada bagian pompa air laut untuk menunjang supply air laut. Suwondo, M.M., M,Mar.E dan Supervisor II: Sri Purwantini, S.E., S.Pd, M.M Air cooler is one of the auxiliary machinery found on the main engine that is used to reduce the temperature or temperature of the air entering the combustion chamber. Air cooler is very influential on the quality of the air rinse on the main engine, so with that the air cooler needs good maintenance. Air cooler has two main components, namely fins or air grille and tubeside or pipe side. Maintenance of fins and tubes is very necessary to keep air cooling running properly so that the air produced is air that has a low temperature and pressure. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors and the causes of the decrease in the water cooler for the main engine and the efforts that must be made to prevent the decline of the work of the air cooler. The method used in this thesis is qualitative descriptive method with the technique of SHEL and USG as a method to determine the cause and effectt to handle it. The problem formulation of this research is what factors affect the performance of air cooler, the impact of decreasing air cooler performance and efforts made to overcome the declining air cooler performance. Based on the results of this study concluded that the cause of the decline in air cooler performance is the dirty air fins on the air cooler, the amount of dirt that settles on the condenser pipes and the lack of sea water supply for the cooling process. From these factors cause the cooling process not maximal and impact on the power of the generated main engine. Efforts are made to improve the performance of the air cooler is to perform periodic maintenance of the appropriate part of the air cooler part of which is the fins on the air side, tube on the air cooler and sea chest filters on the sea water pump to support the supply of sea water.
